SOFTSCAPING:

Sod Install: You should always have a nice layer of good dirt for Sod Install, we include starter fertilizer on every sod install. Once sod is installed you will need to follow watering guide instructions to ensure your new grass grows roots. Shallow roots take 2 weeks to grow and up to 6 weeks to establish deep root growth. You can walk on newly installed sod carefully.

Watering Guide:

Newly installed sod should be watered 2-3 times per day for 5-8 minutes. If it is over 95 degrees newly installed grass should be watered 3-4 times a day for the same amount of time (5-8 minutes) Do not water for over 10 minutes at a time

After 3 weeks you can slowly reduce the amount of water

If standing water is observed, reduce minutes but not frequency

Regular Maintenance requirements for Sod:

You can fertilize new sod for the first time about six weeks after laying the sod. (Do not fertilize in extreme hot weather), you might want to aerate twice a year for the first year, top dress with a nutrient rich soil at least once a year and of course mow.

Planter Mix, Tops Soil and Dressing: (Pick-up, Delivery and Install) Used to amend the soil, Feed plantings, gardens and grass, Doing so in fall and spring lessens weed production, controls troublesome insects and diseases, and regulates soil’s PH.

Plant/Bush/Tree/Flowering/Drought Resistant/Evergreen Plants Install:

Texas weather can be harsh, nobody likes to spend thousands of dollars in plants to see them go to waste. Proper Installation of plants needs to be done: We always amend soil and fertilize. But while proper installation is important, there still needs to be a match between desired planting’s purpose and site’s conditions.

That is why you need expert advice, depending on: temperature: amount of shade and sun available, water requirements, drainage, soil types, house orientation, purpose of the garden: like attracting wildlife, bees and butterflies or just giving privacy year-round.

We can carefully give you a selection of plants that will match your needs, that will make the front of your house stand out and/or suggest flowering plants to even your personal color liking, create gardens with contrasting colors or be more traditional.

Please consider that newly installed plants need to be watered at least morning’s and evening’s (twice a day) for the first 2-3 weeks

After 3 weeks you can slowly reduce the amount of water and frequency.

Bigger shrubs and trees need bigger amounts of water, a slow root-saturating, one-hour trickle once a week is a good rule of thumb, adjust schedule to weather accordingly.

Also don't forget to feed your sod and plants either new dirt and/or fertilizer at least once a year (During Spring and Autumn months)

Metal Edging Install:

Purpose: To delimit areas, separate planting areas from grass, creates a clean-cut, professional-looking edge lasts longer than plastic (which we do not install)

Installation: When done properly it is installed flush or slightly over ground level

Colors: BLACK (New), Brown and Green

Mulch Install:

Pros:

  • It protects plants in winter and newly planted trees and shrub roots from hot weather
  • It keeps moisture in
  • It keeps weeds down
  • It amends the soil as it decomposes
  • It is decorative

Cons:

  • It must be replenished as it decomposes into dirt
  • It cannot be installed in a slope as it will wash away
  • It can also fly out of place by either strong winds or when trying to use your blower

COLORS AVAILABLE: Natural, and Dyed: Black, Brown, Red

Rock and Gravel Install:

Proper install is done with a Layer of Basemix, then Commercial Grade Weedblock and then the gravel or stone of your selection.

Pros:

  • It can highlight an area like a planter specially when using contrasting colors, and or walkways
  • River Rock is a great way to channel water out or away from areas
  • The weedblock and base prevent the weeds from growing, however seedlings must be either pulled out or spot sprayed with vinegar or weedkiller.
  • It is done once, and hardly ever replenished (unless there is big slopes and rocks move out of place with rushing water)

Cons:

  • It is more expensive than mulch install
  • It does need low maintenance (spot spraying or pulling of weeds)
